Mission Green @ the ISB Riffa Campus

Encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment, the Indian School Riffa campus celebrated World Environment Day on Wednesday in conjunction with the Lions Club of Riffa with a tree plantation drive wherein 30 neem trees were planted in the campus. The celebration was held in the presence of ISB Hon. EC Member -Academics and Procurement Mohammad Khursheed Alam, Hon. Member- Health and Environment Ajayakrishnan V, Lions Club President Sanjay Gupta ,Riffa Campus Principal Pamela Xavier, Lions Club members, ISB prefect council team and staff. The trees and manure were donated by the Lions Club. EC Member Khursheed Alam expressed his sheer delight that students from a young age were involved in green projects such as these. EC Member Ajayakrishnan V was grateful to the sponsors and every student and staff responsible for the success of the programme. Lions Club President Sanjay Gupta said that his club was happy to partner with projects promoting environmental awareness. This was followed by an inspiring message by the school’s Eco-Ambassador Meenakshi Deepak on the topic “Live Green, Think Green, Love Green”. She enthusiastically announced that looking back a few years from now, the team would be full of pride to see a green campus, the fruits of their ambitious projects being enjoyed. The excited prefect members swung into action of fixing the trees into the prepared spots guided by officials for the activity. Principal Pamela Xavier praised the initiative and unveiled future plans of involving students as environmentalists in conservation and sustainability projects. Planting and nurturing a tree offers a prized opportunity to foster environment stewardship among students and instils in them the necessity of trees in our lives,she said. Since its inception,the ISB Riffa Campus has been involved in green activities encouraging a greener and more environmentally friendly campus coupled with its love for greener Bahrain. The event is also seen as an opportunity to unite the school, students and participating communities.
