Annual Sports Day 2015

The 37th Annual Sports Day of the Indian School, Bahrain was conducted with great pomp and fanfare on Friday, December 11, 2015 in the Indian School ground. The Annual Sports Day is the culmination of a month long series of competitions in athletics and games. The Chief Guest of the event was the Honourable Minister of Education, the Government of Kerala, Mr. P. K. Abdu Rabb who gave away the prizes to the star athletes. The day began with a colourful inaugural ceremony. The Indian School flag was hoisted by the Hon. Chairman, Mr. Prince S. Natarajan in the presence of the Special Guest , Mr. V. K. Dewan, Chairman of Bramco; Hon. Vice- Chairman, Mr. Muhammed Iqbal; Hon. Member Finance, Mr. S. K. Ramachandran; Hon. Member Sports, Mr. Jayafar Maidani; Hon. Member Transport and Discipline, Mr. Bhupinder Singh; Hon. Member Academics, Mr. Khursheed Alam; Hon. Member IT, Mr. Saji Antony and Hon. Member and Staff Representative, Ms Priya Laji. Students dressed in colourful costumes of various states of India took part in a display procession reflecting the theme of ‘ unity in diversity’. This was followed by an impressive March Past led by the Indian School band. The sports champions who represented the school at the CBSE National Sports Meet and other international events took a lap along the tracks and handed over the Olympic Torch to the Hon. Chairman who lit the flame in the true spirit of sports reminiscent of the Olympic games. The Sports Captain, Harith Lal administered the oath to the participating students. The Principal, Mr. V. R. Palaniswamy welcomed the august gathering. In his presidential address, the Hon. Chairman, Mr. Prince S. Natarajan announced the establishment of Sports Academy to promote sports . He urged the students to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and participate enthusiastically in the sporting events. The Hon. Member Sports, Mr. Jayafar Maidani presented the sports report highlighting the achievements of the students. The competitions began with the novelty races of the tiny tots of Riffa Campus. The whole campus was buzzing with vibrance and enthusiasm of the young sports stars.
