ISB Celebrates 38th annual sports day

The 38th annual sports day of the Indian School, Bahrain , was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fanfare at the Isa Town campus . The entire campus throbbed with the energy and vibrance of the students as they competed in various sporting events. The Chief Guest, Mr.AbdulRahim Abdullah Fakhro , the Deputy Chairman of the Bahrain Small and Medium Enterprises Society (SMES) declared the Sports Meet open and exhorted the young student leaders to take their country to greater heights . The Hon. Chairman , Mr. Prince S Natarajan , congratulated the participants and emphasized the importance of sports in a child’s life .The Hon. Secretary , Dr. Shemily P John congratulated the staff and students of ISB and urged them to keep the name of ISB flying high. “The Olympic flame is symbolic of the spirit of sports and the students must uphold this spirit of sportsmanship”, said the Hon. Member sports, Mr. Jayafar Maidanee in his annual sports report. He red out the various laurels the school children received during the year representing Indian school in various sports. Mr. Sathyan Mokevi, Ex-MLA of the Kerala Legislative Assembly was also present during the event. The Principal Mr. V R Palaniswamy advised the students to maintain physical fitness and discipline in their lives. The opening ceremony witnessed a wide array of colorful events like the march-past, state wise procession and dance displays by the students. The school band led an impressive march-past which included the members of the Prefect Council and the four Houses. A procession representing the Kingdom of Bahrain and the various states of India was a splendid reflection of the celebration of the diverse cultures of our land. The Hon. member Academics. Mr. Khursheed Alam , Hon. Member IT Mr. Saji Anthony , Hon. Member Transport -Mr. Bhupinder Singh , Principal Mr. V R Palaniswamy , Principal –Riffa campus ,Mr. Sudhir Krishnan, Staff Representative Mrs. Priya Laji, the staff and the parents also graced the occasion with their presence. The Head of the Physical Education Dept. Mr. Saikat Sarkar said that over 2860 students had participated in about 100 events conducted during the past 1 month. The initial selections were done during the Saturdays and the finals for various events were conducted on the Sports Day . The staff and the parents applauded the prize winners.
