The Indian School Celebrates Malayalam Day The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) conducted Malayalam Day celebration in connection with the Kerala Piravi which marks the birth of the state of Kerala in India on November 1. The celebration held at the ISB Jashanmal Auditorium was inaugurated by prominent literary critic and cultural activist Anil Vencode by lightening the lamp. ISB Vice Chairman Muhammed Iqbal, EC Member Facilities & Maintenance Saji Markose, Principal V.R.Palaniswami, Vice principals and Teachers attended the function. During his speech Anil Vencode pointed out that learning to speak in the mother tongue is very important for a child's overall development. Saji Markose stressed that learning language is as important like learning vital subjects. If we kindle the fire of learning mother tongue it will stay there forever and will help us in the future. So we can say programs like Malayalam Day will definitely instigate the students to study the language well. ISB Teacher Vibi Sarath delivered a speech on the Importance of Protection of Natural Resources , a theme chosen by UNESCO. Variety of entertainment programmes like Thiruvathirakali , Group Song, Orchestra and poem recitation added color to the function. ISB Malayalam Department organized various competitions for the students. Trophies and certificates were awarded to the winners during the function. The whole-hearted participation of the students, sincere efforts of the teachers and unending support of the management made this event a grand successful one.
