ISB RIFFA PAYS RICH TRIBUTE TO THE NATION
ISB RIFFA PAYS RICH TRIBUTE TO THE NATION “ Fun, Play and Learn” The 46th Bahrain National Day celebration 2017 was an amazing display of unity by Team Riffa and a comprehensive learning experience for students at The Indian School, Bahrain. The swinging human formation of I LOVE BAHRAIN was indeed an unparalleled and unique mega event focusing on the psychomotor component of learning where tiny students not only fashioned one of the largest human formations on the island, but enhanced the creation with their nimble hands waving red and white props. The one of its kind event was put together by 4325 students from LKG to Class 3 and staff. The novel initiative is the talk of the town and a fitting tribute to the Kingdom. The flag hoisting ceremony was spearheaded by Mr. Saji Antony Hon. Member (IT) and Mr. Jayafar Maidani Hon. Member ( Sports), assisted by Principal, Mr. Sudhir Krishnan, Vice- Principal, Ms. Pamela Xavier, Head Teachers and Coordinators. Mrs. Priya Laji Staff Representative to the Excom also attended the function. The grandparents of the school’s Bahraini students were the special invitees to the show who commended the school’s effort to imbibe the spirit of the nation among all students. An aura of patriotism filled the air with the sweet sound of Bahraini music everywhere and students and staff dressed in the flag colours or traditional attire. The stirring rendition of the National Anthem and verses from the Holy Quran, foot tapping Arabic dances and a unique drill display Bahrain Fi Ayuni were a spectacular pageant of student talent and dedication of the teaching faculty. The exhibition of local culture, henna designing, sharing of Bahraini delicacies and greeting one and all on the occasion of the National Day added to the portrayal of the local ambience at School. The values of fraternity and giving were highlighted enhancing the affective component of learning. Students of the Riffa campus were also involved in jig-saw learning indoors where they shared facts about Bahrain and recorded their learning on creative posters, thus appealing to the Cognitive domain of learning ! The members of the Executive Committee, Principal , the leadership team, parents and all guests were particularly impressed by the tremendous effort put in by the teachers and students to make the celebration an epoch making event. Inspired by the island of pearls, the Indian School firmly believes that each child is a precious pearl and must be given ample opportunities to participate in such programmes, especially in the formative years to develop a well rounded child.
