ISB Celebrates World Health Day

The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) celebrated World Health Day, a global health awareness day, on Sunday. This year’s theme was ‘Universal Health Coverage’. The purpose behind the celebrations was to create awareness regarding major diseases and take care of one’s health. April 7 of each year marks the celebration of World Health Day. The programme was based on UNESCO Sustainable Development Goal ‘good-health and well-being.’ Health awareness posters were displayed in the school campus. Middle Section Head Teacher Activities Junith CM welcomed the gathering. ISB EC Member Ajayakrishnan V gave World Health Day message. Over the past 50 years World Health Day has brought to light important health issues such as mental health, maternal and child care, and climate change. The celebration serves as an opportunity to focus worldwide attention on these important aspects of global health, Ajayakrishnan V said. Physical Education Teacher Chinnasamy Rengasamy presented yoga demonstration for students. Universal health coverage (UHC) is about ensuring all people and communities have access to quality health services where and when they need them, without suffering financial hardship. It includes the full spectrum of services needed throughout life—from health promotion to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care—and is best based on a strong primary health care system.
