ISB Celebrates Commerce Festival Nishka-2019
The Indian School Departments of Commerce and Humanities celebrated its Commerce Day ‘NISHKA-2019’ at its Isa Town Campus on Thursday, September 19, 2019. Principal VR Palaniswamy declared NISHKA-2019 open by lighting the traditional lamp. The inaugural address was delivered by Vice-Principal (Senior Section) Anand Nair. Display Board Competition was conducted on the topic ‘Waste Management and Society: Challenges and Possibilities’’ for Class 11 and ‘Marketing Strategies from Past to Present’ for Class 12. It provided a unique opportunity to students for team work, creative thinking and to develop artistic skills. ‘Fashionista’, another fantastic competitive event was conducted on the day of Nishka. This event exhibited students creative skills by using traditional and modern apparels. Its objectives were to connect with the new generation who are fashion conscious and to introduce the students to ethical fashion concepts.A quiz competition was conducted to test the subject and general knowledge of the participants. 'Fit Foodie'-salad making competition was held to encourage healthy life style.It helped the students to know about the importance of different varieties of healthy food and hospitality management. Logo and caption making competitions provided opportunities to develop creative thinking, artistic skills and better imagination towards the desired target. At the closing ceremony Dr.M.Rasheed, HoD of Commerce delivered the welcome address. Chief Guest Sarath Menon ( Commercial Development Team in YBA Kanoo, Bahrain) delivered an effective speech to motivate the students. ISB Executive Committee Members Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese, Ajayakrishnan V, Premalatha NS, Principal V.R. Palaniswamy, Staff Representative Johnson Devassy , Vice- Principals Anand Nair, Satheesh G and Vinod S were present. Humanities HoD Annly Joseph proposed vote of thanks. The function ended with prize distribution to the winners of various competitions. NISHKA, the annual talent hunt of the Commerce and Humanities Departments of the ISB is a fusion of students’ creativity and intellect, which create an excellent opportunity to look beyond the boundaries of class room learning. (NISHKA is a gold coin discovered in India for the first time during the Chandragupta Maurya’s Dynasty) The festival carries its name for its commercial significance. The Indian School has been conducting Commerce Festival NISHKA since 2003. Various competitions are arranged for the benefit of students to exhibit their talents. It’s the day of learning with fun for students of Classes XI and XII Commerce and Humanities stream.
