ISB Youth Festival Tarang 2019 Begins in Style
The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) Tarang 2019, the biggest School Youth Festival in the Gulf countries, has begun at the Isa Town campus on Wednesday. The ISB Youth Festival is notable for the huge participation of students in around 130 events. More than 2500 children are participating in these events with Essay Writing English compulsory for all students from IV to XII. The non-stage events Flower Arrangement, Poetry Writing, Pencil Drawing and Painting were conducted earlier at different venues with the enthusiastic participation of students. Since last year three Indian classical dance forms were added to the list of events-namely Kathak,Kuchippudi and Mohiniyattam. Today(Thursday) Band,Kuchipudi and Light Music-Hindi will be held in the morning and Mohiniyattam, Cinematic Dance,Light Music English and Hindustani Music will be held in the evening. The stage events will continue till October 1 on five venues, followed by the Grand Finale on October 3. The ISB follows House system in which students are divided into sub-units called ‘houses’ named after eminent Indian scholars Aryabhata,Vikram Sarabhai, JC Bose and CV Raman .The Youth Festival is an opportunity for students to compete with one another displaying their talent and creative skills in Art and Literature. The students from age group 6 to 17 are grouped in levels A, B, C and D. The participants scoring maximum points in stage and non-stage events will be awarded the prestigious Kalashri and Kalathilakam awards at the Grand Finale. Some of the prize winning and exhilarating events will be performed at the Grand Finale. More than 800 glittering trophies will be awarded during the Finale. “ISB is committed to conduct the Tarang Youth Festival in a systematic way, leaving no room for complaints or discrepancies of any kind,†said School Chairman Prince S Natarajan. "The aim of education should be to develop an all-rounded student in all aspects. This includes the student’s intellectual, spiritual, social, physical and moral capabilities. There is need to strike a balance in all these aspects, so as to benefit the child," Prince S Natarajan said. ISB Honorary Secretary Saji Antony said: “Students who participate in co-curricular activities have a sense of commitment to whatever they are involved in. This is because as they take part in whatever house activity they are a member of, they have to commit to it and give their all, and this commitment extends to all other areas of their lives.†Prizes for the group events will be distributed immediately after the declaration of the results. Individual prizes will be distributed during the Grand Finale. ISB has strength of 12250 students and Tarang 2019 is a much-awaited event in the school calendar. The campus is buzzing with the energy of the performers and the motivating student audience. Every year during the ISB Youth Festival the campus witnesses enthusiastic students, encouraging parents, task oriented teachers and staff who are out to make the festival a grand success. ISB Youth Festival is unique in its structure and organisation. The school has formed a committee to ensure the smooth conduct of the festival under the leadership of the principal as the chief convener and the vice principals as the general conveners.
