Mathew K Cherian-Vinay Varghese team Win Badminton Championship
Manama: Mathew K Cherian-Vinay Varghese team won the Under 19 Boys Doubles category of the ISB Braincraft International Bahrain Junior Ranking Circuit 2020 on Monday. In an exciting final they beat Jeffin Abraham Johnson-Geramyr C Piencenaves team by 21-11, 21-17. Vinay Varghese also won the Under 19 Boys Singles category. He defeated Om Suhas Thaware in the final by the score 21-14,21-16. Indian School student Ajay Jaimy won the Under 15 category by defeating Adhik Ajay by the score 21-15, 13-21 , 21-19 in the final.Seven ISB students participated in the finals of this major ranking tournament. They are Mathew K Cherian, Vinay Varghese, Ajay Jaimy,Jeffin Abraham Johnson,Thomas C Jacob, Sreepadmini Sudheeran and Afrah Arifkhan. U11 Boys Singles: Heavendrick Likhiya Shanto beat Setu Venkat Adwaithkan Kolloju.Score: 21-10,22-20. The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) organised the major ranking tournament in association with Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation (BBSF) with an aim to develop the sport in the Kingdom. ISB Hon.Chairman Prince Natarajan, Hon.Secretary Saji Antony, Vice-Chairman Jayafar Maidani, EC Members Rajesh MN, Adv.Binu Mannil Varughese, Mohammad Khursheed Alam, Principal VR Palaniswamy, Nitro Sports Co. Managing Director Raed Ali Husain, LuLu Regional Director Mohamed Kaleem Ulla, Braincraft International CEO Joy Mathews and Hamed (BBSF) attended the ceremony. Certificates and trophies were distributed to the winners and participants during the final ceremony. This is the first national Badminton tournament held in the recently refurbished ISB badminton courts. The Junior Ranking Circuit follows the laws of Badminton strictly.
