Online Fun for Young Ones at ISB Riffa Campus

Manama: The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) Riffa Campus students have celebrated online various special days in the school calendar with great enthusiasm, transcending the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. The International Yoga Day was celebrated with zeal at the Riffa Campus on June 21 with little ones practising yoga virtually. Flooded with eagerness for this newbie concept, the children were on to their yoga mats performing various yoga poses and shared their health benefits among peers. Celebrating relationships, heart winning crafts were designed for their loved ones on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. On World Environment Day (June 5) students showcased their love and responsibility by growing and nurturing plants in their home garden and planting seedlings in recycled bottles and pots. National Mathematics Day was celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of legendary Indian mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan and his contributions in the field of mathematics. Earth Day gave an opportunity to explore mother earth based on their EVS experiments and discovery. The HSSE and Discipline Week was celebrated with children preparing artistic expressions relating to safety and security. ISB Hon. Chairman Prince S Natarajan said: ‘An inspiring transformation of Cloud Computing and Learning has been occurring at the Indian School, Riffa Campus this term. The School has transcended to the new normal of Online Learning subsequent to the challenges posed globally now.’ Hon. Secretary Saji Antony said: ‘The ISB always had in place an online presence and virtual technology which made it easy to swiftly extend learning right into the heart of the learners.’ ISB Riffa Campus Principal Pamela Xavier said: ‘Young learners from the age of 4 and above are now attuned to the new digital tools and skills and enjoy this blended learning with their teachers and peers. Online contact time for the young ones is in keeping with the optimum attention span of the students. The cooperation of the parent community has been exemplary and we extend our sincere gratitude to them.’ Students are treated to constructively gain knowledge and key skills across the areas like environmental sciences, basic mathematical skills, regional languages and cultural awareness and expression. It has brought positive bearings toward students’ learning activities including achievement, motivation, engagement, and interaction. The curriculum framework was tuned and set to meet the needs of the digital transformation. Webinars and professional development channels have become the Web Staffroom among teachers where new skills are learnt, adapted and implemented.
