ISB Honours Toppers for Academic Excellence
The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) organized the Virtual (Online) Academic Award Ceremony on November 30, 2020 to felicitate the school toppers of the CBSE class X and XII examination 2020. Around 78 toppers and high achievers of X and XII were honoured virtually with medals, plaques and A1 grade certificates for their excellent academic performance in the academic year 2019-2020 at the ceremony held as per the COVID-19 guidelines at the school auditorium in Isa Town campus. 241 prizes were also distributed. Indian Ambassador Piyush Srivastava was the chief guest of the ceremony. ISB Hon. Chairman Prince S Natarajan, Hon. Secretary Saji Antony, EC Members Mohammad Khursheed Alam, Premalatha NS, Binu Mannil Varughese, Saji George, Deepak Gopalakrishnan, Mohammad Nayaz Ullah, Rajesh Nambiar, Principal VR Palaniswamy, Riffa Campus Principal Pamela Xavier, Vice- Principals and Head Teachers attended the ceremony. The gold medalists include Class XII school toppers Shree Arthi Govindaraju(98.4%), Reelu Reji(98%), Keyur Ganesh Chaudhari(97.8%) and Class X school toppers Nandana Subha Vinu Kumar(98.6%),Nayana Chandran Puravankara (97.8%) and Gautham Anaimallur Janardhanan (97.6%). On behalf of the winners, Head Teachers Reji Varughese and Jose Thomas collected the awards and trophies from the school officials. In his inaugural address online, Indian Ambassador Piyush Srivastava appreciated the excellent performance of the Indian School in academics and conveyed his best wishes, appreciating the hard work and dedication of students and staff in these difficult times of COVID-19. ‘The Indian School has been keeping their tradition of excellence. The School’s achievements are mind blogging and the school is providing all-encompassing education to students besides academic brilliance which makes them global citizens. Quoting Greek philosopher Plutarch, the Ambassador said ‘the mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled,' and urged everyone to ponder upon the inspiring saying. ISB Hon. Chairman Prince S Natarajan in his presidential address said that the concerted efforts of the ISB academic team with the wholehearted support of the parents and teachers have resulted in the best ever academic performance of the students in the school in several years. The Indian School faculty have quickly adapted to the online teaching platform which is going on very well. The school has given lot of COVID-19 related support to deserving parents, he said, adding that the school is scrutinising hundreds of applications for fee concession. Prince Natarajan urged the parents to support the school activities by paying the pending fees in time. Principal VR Palaniswamy who presented the highlights of the CBSE results pointed out that the Indian School has achieved 10 out of 12 awards instituted by the CBSE for academic excellence. He appreciated the hard work of the students, commitment of the teachers, cooperation of the parents and the support and guidance of the Executive Committee in bringing laurels to the school. Hon. EC Member-Academics Mohammad Khursheed Alam in his felicitation address said that it’s a proud moment for the Indian School family as the school has been performing consistently well every year in academics. ISB Hon Secretary Saji Antony who proposed the vote of thanks said academic brilliance has always been the priority of the school and the results prove that the combined efforts of the school team helped the ISB to emerge as the centre of excellence in academics. In the March 2020 CBSE exam, Shree Arthi Govindraju emerged as the Island topper in grade XII with 492 marks out of 500. She has got 98.4% making her to the topmost position in class XII in Bahrain. Reelu Reji is in second place now with 98 % . Reelu shares the second position with a student of another school. Keyur Ganesh Chaudhari is in the third position as Island topper with 97.8 % marks in the exam.
