ISB Riffa Campus Celebrates World Environment Day

The Indian School Riffa campus students celebrated World Environment Day virtually and shared their activities to protect nature. Celebrations are conducted annually to encourage renewed awareness, responsibility, and action for the environment among students. Students stepped out onto their virtual screens to complement the environmental appeal in the apparel of plush greens shades. Classes 1, 2, and 3 exhibited recycled crafts and an assortment of microgreen galleries.Riffa Campus Principal Pamela Xavier said the purpose of World Environment Day celebrations was to spread awareness about the threat to the environment due to rising pollution levels and climate change. “The restoration of the ecosystem can only happen with measures including planting of trees, greening cities, cleaning up rivers and coasts, and rewilding gardens. The ongoing pandemic has reminded mankind of the harm we have caused to nature and how important it is to protect the environment”, said ISB Hon. Chairman Prince S Natarajan in a message. “World Environment Day is a reminder that we must take good care of our surroundings. Let us make a promise to make our planet a greener and healthier place for us to live and enjoy life”, said ISB Hon. Secretary Saji Antony. “We must join hands to save our beautiful planet as there is no other place in the universe so beautiful, so vibrant and so lively. Let us be more responsible”, said EC Member Health and Environment Ajayakrishnan V. Students exhibited hand-crafted decorations and upcycled crafts to hold plants. These included pencil stands from plastic bottles, colourful flowers crafted from plastic bags, garment accessories, vases and cups, papercrafts etc. Knowing that prospects of environmental safety is more than an aesthetic pursuit, young minds discussed and made posters on fuel and water conservation, balancing the ecosystem, its restoration ideas etc. The kindergarteners enjoyed a visual digital treat from their teachers encouraging them to play a small role as part of their daily routine towards environment protection. Children were encouraged to protect the environment by practising the following: reducing waste and consumption; reusing old items and recycling appropriate materials.
