Indian School Launches Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign
The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) has launched a breast cancer awareness campaign to highlight the importance of early detection of breast cancer and prevention methods. The programme marks International Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is observed in October, according to the World Health Organization. As part of the campaign, ISB Biotechnology Teacher Ms. Daisy Peter gave a presentation on Breast Cancer - Early Detection and Treatment. Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women,accounting for more than one in ten new cancer diagnoses each year. Ms Daisy Peter emphasized that early detection and treatment of breast cancer increases the survival rate. Teachers of IV and V grades attended the programme. Self-examination tips were demonstrated to highlight that establishing a regular breast self-exam is very important. Hon.Chairman Prince S Natarajan in a message said: The campaign is primarily meant to educate teachers about disease detection and diagnosis as well as the procedures to follow when symptoms appear in order to build a society that is aware of the dangers of this disease and how to prevent it. Hon.Secretary Saji Antony said : The school aims to promote healthy lifestyles based on innovative and sustainable methods that ensure the protection of society from diseases. Principal VR Palaniswamy said the school will continue to hold informative sessions in different levels of the school to emphasize the importance of early breast cancer screening and offer prevention advice.
