ISB Riffa Campus Students Observe International Yoga Day
The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) Riffa campus students enthusiastically observed the ninth International Yoga Day on Wednesday June 21, 2023. Under the guidance of the PE instructors and class teachers, students demonstrated their passion for yoga by doing a variety of breathing exercises and asanas, such as vrikshasana (tree pose), padmasana (lotus pose), and baddha konasana (butterfly pose) etc along with music and melody. Students also practised other yoga positions that energize and support the internal organs.
Teachers encouraged students to include yoga as part of their daily routine, as exercises boost the mind and body’s well-being. Meditation and pranayama (conscious, deep breathing exercises) marked the end of the session. Additionally, the students created eye-catching charts emphasizing the value of yoga. This year it’s celebrated with the underlying theme of "vasudeiva kutumbakam" which means one earth, one family, one future.
The annual commemoration of International Yoga Day on June 21 is the tenacious efforts of the Republic of India. Since its inception, people from all over the world are united by the yoga ethos, and exhibiting global partnership. Students at ISB have been participating in the event and its energy seems to be gaining strength every year and numbers multiplying manifold. Teachers participated in virtual yoga sessions and received certifications. ISB Hon Chairman Prince S Natrajan, Hon. Secretary Saji Antony and Principal Pamela Xavier congratulated the students and teachers for their active participation in the programme.
