Indian School celebrates Punjabi Divas
The Indian School celebrated Punjabi Divas 2023 with vibrant colors on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at the school's Jashanmal Auditorium. The event, organized by the Punjabi Department, commenced with the National Anthems of Bahrain and India, followed by the school prayer song. Shahid Quamar of class 7 recited the Holy Quran, and its translation was done by Wardah Khan of class 8. Amrit Kaur of class 9 recited from Guru Granth Saheb, and a Shabad prayer was performed by students Gurveer Singh, Jagjot Singh, Abijot Singh, Manveer Singh, Manindar Singh, Pavneet Singh, Jasanveer Kaur, and Amrit Kaur.
The program was inaugurated by Principal VR Palaniswamy, who lit the lamp in the presence of Vice-Principals, Head teachers, and Heads of Departments. Harshdeep Singh, a student of class 9, delivered the welcome address. The introduction to the Punjabi language and a progress report were presented by Punjabi language teacher Simarjit Kaur.
The event served as the grand finale of a weeklong celebration, during which various competitions were organized by the Punjabi language department. Competitions included picture identification and coloring, poster making, storytelling, poem recitation, and essay writing.
Aside from the competitions, the program featured notable performances such as 'Punjabi Gidda dance' and 'Bhangra Dance,' 'Punjabi Folk song,' and Poem recitation. Head of the Department Baboo Khan announced the names of prize winners in different competitions, and trophies and certificates were awarded to all the winners.
The Punjabi Divas organizing committee members, including Srilata Nair, Kahkasha Khan, Mahanaz Khan, Mala Singh, Shabreen Sulthana, Sheema Attukandathil , Sayali, Amod Kelkar, Sreekala Suresh, Nanditha Devu Sunil, Smita Helwatkar, Vandana Syan, and Aparna Singh, were present during the program. The school orchestra team members Raman Kumar and Pankaj Kumar performed songs. A vote of thanks was presented by student Amrit Kaur.
Honorable Chairman Prince S Natarajan, Honorable Secretary Saji Antony, and Principal V R Palaniswamy expressed their appreciation for the efforts of the ISB teachers in coordinating the program and commended the students who actively participated in the celebrations.
