The Indian School celebrates Republic Day
In a spirited commemoration of the 75th Republic Day of India, the Indian School Bahrain (ISB) came alive with fervor and patriotism at its campus in Isa Town. The air was charged with a sense of unity and national pride as the school orchestrated a captivating array of diverse programs, symbolizing the rich tapestry of India's cultural heritage.
ISB Honorary Chairman Adv.Binu Mannil Varughese, Hon.Secretary V Rajapandian, Hon. Vice-Chairman Dr. Mohammed Faisal, Asst. Secretary Ranjini Mohan, Executive Committee Members Mithun Mohan, Bonny Joseph, Biju George, Mohammed Nayaz Ullah, Principal VR Palaniswamy, Riffa Campus Principal Pamela Xavier, and Staff Representative Parvathi Devadas attended the ceremony. The event commenced with flag hoisting, accompanied by a national salute, setting a patriotic tone for the day. The school's band added musical fervor with a stirring patriotic song. Earlier the school band and Bharat Scouts and Guides members led the dignitaries to the venue of flag hoisting. The parade by the scouts and school band, showcased discipline and unity among the students. Students, parents, and community leaders including former ISB Chairman Prince S Natarajan were in attendance. Principal VR Palaniswamy delivered the welcome address.
Hon. Chairman,Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese who gave the presidential address said ‘as parents, well-wishers and teachers in particular of the Indian School Bahrain, we play a crucial role in passing on values in our children instilling in them a deep sense of respect for each other and the world around them.’ ‘On this momentous occasion let’s reflect on the values that define our great nation-the values of unity, diversity, democracy, and resilience. Our culture is a mosaic of cultures and traditions. And it’s in this diversity that makes us unique and strong’, Adv. Binu Mannil said.
The cultural segment featured spirited performances by students from the Riffa and Isa Town Campuses. Patriotic dances and songs were presented, reflecting the vibrant spirit of the occasion. Joel Shaiju, a student of grade 9 , delivered an inspiring speech, echoing the sentiments of the day. Head Teacher Jose Thomas also shared insightful thoughts with the audience.
Acknowledgment and recognition took center stage as awards were distributed to the talented members of the school band and Scouts and Guides. The Isa Town campus students showcased additional cultural performances, including patriotic songs and dances.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Hon. Secretary V Rajapandian, expressing gratitude to all participants and attendees for contributing to a memorable Republic Day celebration. Senior section students Shan Diamond Lewis, Abigail Ellis Shibu, Bhadra Sreekumar and Joel Shaiju were masters of ceremonies. It was a day of celebration that not only honored the nation's history but also echoed the spirit of inclusivity that defines the Indian ethos.
