ISB Celebrates Urdu Day 2025
Manama: The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) celebrated Urdu Day—Yaum-e-Urdu—with great vibrancy on Thursday, 20 November 2025 at the Jashanmal Auditorium, Isa Town Campus. The programme commenced with the school prayer, followed by the national anthems of Bahrain and India. The recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Rehan Shaikh of class 10 added grace to the occasion. A warm welcome was extended to the gathering by Fatima Al Zahra of class 10, dedicating the event to Urdu poet and philosopher Dr Allamah Iqbal. The event was meticulously organised by the Urdu Department in the presence of Staff Representative Paravathi Devadas and Hod Baboo Khan.
A week-long series of competitions for students from classes 4 to 10 culminated in the final celebration. Activities included picture identification and colouring, poem recitation, story-telling, poster-making, handwriting, quiz, and debate competitions. The cultural programme featured a patriotic group action song titled Mera Pyara Watan by students of classes 4 and 5, along with patriotic and national songs. Two humourous skits—Exam Ka Fever and Chappal ki Chori—were enthusiastically received by the audience.
The organising committee—Kahkashan Khan, Shabreen Sultana, Mahanaz Khan, Sidra Khan, Sheema Attukandathil, Ganga Kumari, Girija MK, Nita Pradeep, and the comperes—played an instrumental role in the success of the event. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Sara Fatima of class 10. Trophies and certificates were awarded to the winners in each category.
ISB Hon.Chairman Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese, Hon. Secretary V. Rajapandian, Hon.Asst.Secretary & Hon. Member-Academics Ranjini Mohan, Principal VR Palaniswamy, Senior School & Academic Administration Vice-Principal G Satheesh, and HoD Baboo Khan congratulated the prize winners and commended the sincere efforts of students and teachers in presenting a colourful and meaningful Urdu Day celebration.
