The Indian School Celebrates Arabic Day
As part of the United Nations celebrations marking International Arabic Language Day, The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) organised a series of educational and cultural activities for students on Tuesday,18 November 2025. Conducted under the Arabic Department, the programme aimed to highlight the linguistic and cultural significance of the Arabic language. Students participated enthusiastically in activities such as presentations, Arabic storytelling, poem recitation, and essay writing.
Staff Representative Parvathi Devadas, Head Teacher Activities Sreekala R, Salona Pius, Head of the Department Safa Abdulla Qambar and Arabic teachers attended the inaugural ceremony. Fatima Zainab of 12N recited the Holy Quaran. In alignment with UNESCO’s commitment to promoting multilingualism and cultural diversity, International Arabic Language Day is observed annually. Students gained a deeper appreciation of Arabic as a language that transcends borders and connects communities through its literary heritage and expressive richness.
The programme further showcased the remarkable diversity of the Arabic language, its enduring relationship with various forms of cultural expression, and its vital role in fostering communication and dialogue. Presentations on the use of Arabic in daily communication, artistic traditions, and calligraphy added depth to the celebrations.
The event also honoured students who excelled in Arabic language studies across different grade levels. The top-performing students were: Grade 4 – Lina Abduljaleel, Jory Yousif, and Yousif Khamis; Grade 5 – Ali Redha, Lulwah Mubarak Al-Sulaiti, Zahra Abdulmahdi, and Zainab Abdulshaheed; Grade 6 – Waad Abdulaziz, Mohammed Rajeh, Yasmine Ahmed, and Fatima Ammar; Grade 7 – Ammar Hussain, Mohammed Qasim, and Hassan Sadiq; Grade 8 – Ali Mohammed, Fahad Hammoud, Hawra Abdulshaheed, and Sarah Basim; Grade 9 – Hadi Mohammed, Zainab Hussain, and Zainab Ali; Grade 10 – Banin Abdullah Faisal, Aljawhara Rajeh Mohammed, and Lamar Yousif Khalid.
In the Arabic Quiz category, the winners included Maryam Fathi (6C), Sayed Ali Hameed (5 D), Sara Basem (7N), Abbas Ahmed (6J), Noora (9I), Fajer Salah (6B), Zainab Mohammed (6D), Abbas Yusuf (4K), Mohammed Rajh (6D), and Nawal Ali (4L).
ISB Hon. Chairman Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese, Hon. Secretary V. Rajapandian, Hon. Asst. Secretary & Hon. Member–Academics Ranjini Mohan, Principal VR Palaniswamy, and Senior School & Academic Administration Vice-Principal G. Satheesh and HoD Safa Abdulla Qambar extended their heartfelt congratulations to all the winners and participants, appreciating their dedication and cultural engagement.
