The Indian School Opens Science Explore Zone in Junior Wing

 The Indian School Junior Wing has opened Science Explore Rooms, marking the  beginning of an exciting new chapter aimed at fostering curiosity, scientific temper, and a love for learning among primary-level students. ISB Honorary Chairman Adv.Binu Mannil Varughese inaugurated the Science Zone on  Friday, June 14,2024.   Hon. Secretary V. Rajapandian,Executive Committee Members  Bonny Joseph(Finance & IT), Mithun Mohan (Projects & Maintenance), Principal VR Palaniswamy, Junior Wing Principal Pamela Xavier, Staff Representative Parvathi Devadas, Junior Wing Vice-Principal Priya  Laji, coordinators,  teachers, parents, Prefectorial Council Members and  students  attended the ceremony.
The event began with a welcome speech by Head Girl  Noora Rahmathali of class 3, emphasizing the importance of scientific literacy from a young age and how the space aligns with the school’s educational goals. This was followed by the ribbon cutting ceremony by  Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese  who delivered an inspiring speech on the wonders of science and how curiosity and experimentation lead to great discoveries. He appreciated the efforts of the students and the teachers.
Students led the visitors on a tour of the explore rooms  where a variety of exhibits are displayed which includes water cycle, seasons, life cycles, food chain, photosynthesis, seed germination, solar system, human body and organ systems, light and related topics. Simple yet fascinating experiments were demonstrated to the visitors.  Eco Ambassador Sanvika Rajesh  discussed  her experiment on the process of seed germination and exhibited its stages while  Head Boy Jeff George demonstrated an experiment  proving ‘light travels through a straight line’. An interactive Q&A session by the children made the session lively and engaging.
The Science Explore Rooms are designed to provide a conducive environment to encourage students to investigate scientific concepts through hands-on activities, experiments, and projects. The space aims to make science enjoyable and accessible to young learners, promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It is going to remain a busy  hive for the young researchers with planned activities throughout the year. Hon. Secretary V. Rajapandian expressed his gratitude to all attendees, especially the Prefect Council Members, and highlighted the enthusiastic participation of the students.
The inauguration of the Science Zone was a resounding success, sparking excitement and curiosity among the students. It set a positive tone for the lab’s future activities, promising a vibrant and enriching environment for young minds to explore the marvels of science.
