ISB Youth Festival Kicks Off with Colourful Folk Dance

 

The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) came alive with colour, rhythm, and youthful energy as the stage events of the much-awaited Youth Festival commenced on Thursday, October 9, 2025, with a soft inauguration ceremony and a vibrant display of student talent. The event was officially inaugurated by ISB Hon. Chairman Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese in the presence of   Hon. Secretary V. Rajapandian, Hon. Vice-Chairman & Hon. Member-Sports Dr. Mohammed Faizal, Hon. Asst. Secretary & Hon. Member -Academics Ranjini Mohan, Hon. Member Biju George, Principal VR Palaniswamy, Junior Wing Principal Pamela Xavier, Senior School & Academic Administration Vice-Principal G. Satheesh, and Staff Representative Parvathi Devadas. The school leadership collectively lit the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the school’s dedication to nurturing creativity and holistic growth among its students.

Tarang is one of the biggest youth festivals in the Arabian Gulf countries, and has already witnessed record-breaking participation, with around 7,000 students competing in literary events, and 2000 students showcasing their talents in various group events. The wide range of competitions includes speech, dance, music, poetry, theatre, and more- offering students a platform to express themselves beyond academics. The opening day featured the completion of several exciting events: folk dance performances for Levels B and C, mime for Levels A and D, English speech competitions for Levels B and D, and Hindi poem recitation for Levels C and D. Each event showcased the confidence, creativity, and communication skills of the participants, drawing applause from a captivated audience. Tahreem Fatima and Zainab Ali were masters of ceremony.

As the festival continues through October 10 to 13, anticipation is building for the prestigious awards that celebrate individual and group excellence. The coveted Kalaratna and Kalashri  will be awarded to the most outstanding overall performers, along with a trophy, certificate, and crown.  The Group Championship will be presented to four outstanding group teams, while House Star awards will honour top performers from each house. In total, over 1,800 trophies and certificates will be distributed during the festival—making it one of the largest school-level youth festivals in the region in terms of both scale and accolades. Group event prizes were awarded immediately after the announcements at the respective venues, while prizes for individual performances will be presented during the Grand Finale, which will be held on a later date.

Hon. Chairman Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese, Hon. Secretary V. Rajapandian, EC Members, Principal VR Palaniswamy, and Vice-Principal G. Satheesh congratulated the participants and lauded the efforts of staff stating that the festival is a proud testament to the school’s commitment to providing a holistic educational experience—fostering creativity, culture, and character in every student.
