ISB Celebrates Social Science Day
The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) celebrated Social Science Day 2025 with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at the Jashanmal Auditorium. The event, marked by cultural presentations, competitions, and an exhibition, reflected the values of unity, creativity, and civic awareness. The Social Science Day also paid a heartfelt tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, whose ideals of truth, non-violence, and social harmony continue to inspire generations. Through speeches, Gandhi bhajans, and creative presentations, students reflected on his enduring message of peace and equality. The celebrations reminded everyone of the Mahatma’s vision of building a just and inclusive society.
The programme commenced with the national anthem, followed by the school prayer. Sreya Sosa John delivered the welcome address. Colourful performances by the students showcased both artistic talent and social themes. Students of classes 4 and 5 performed an inspiring dance, while classes 5, 6, and 7 presented a patriotic number. Gandhi bhajans by Classes 4 and 5 filled the auditorium with a serene atmosphere. The highlight of the programme was a power-point presentation on the Veergatha Project, which paid tribute to the valour and sacrifices of Indian soldiers. Music and dance performances, including a soulful patriotic song by students of classes 9 and 10, further strengthened the spirit of unity. An exhibition titled Waste to Art displayed the creative use of discarded materials, emphasising the need for environmental consciousness. The cultural programme also included the vibrant NCC song Hum Sab Bhartiya Hain, celebrating India’s diversity and national integration. Asma Fathima Ashraf of class 10 gave a speech on Gandhiji’ vision of Sarvodaya-Welfare of All.
In the Essay Writing Competition on the theme Be the change that you wish to see in the world, the first prize went to Neha Jagadheesh (IX A), followed by Prethika A.T (IX H) and Adyaja Santhosh (IX D).
The Speech Competition on Gandhiji’s Vision of Sarvodaya – Welfare of All saw Asma Fathima Ashraf (X F) securing first place, with Hiranmayi Ayyappan Nair (X Q) and Evangelin Abey (X N) taking the second and third prizes respectively.
In the Gandhi Bhajans Competition, the duet by Aamilah Shanavas (V M) and Punya Shaji (V R) earned the top honour, followed by Aaliyah Shanavas (V M) and Pratyusha Dey (V R).
The Heroes from History competition showcased the historical imagination and creativity of young learners. In the boys’ category, Jeff George (IV K) won first place, while Ankith Girish Kumar Sandhya (IV C) and Joyal Jinoy (IV I) secured the second and third prizes respectively. In the girls’ category, Joan Cijo (IV T) claimed the top honour, followed by Deeksha Menon in second place and Nainika Jiju (IV Q) in third place.
The Drawing Competition on the theme India – The Land of Diversity was won by Sree Lakshmi Gayathri (VI A), who secured the first prize. Hridya Heni (VI X) bagged the second prize, while Anay Krishna (VI M) and Aaba Viju (VI X) shared the third prize.
The Quiz Competition on Veeratha Ka Gyaan – Knowledge of Bravery was won by Navneet Krishna and Aradhya Sandheep (VII I), who secured the first prize. Evan Subin (VII N) bagged the second prize, while Widad Abdul Lathif (VII I) and Joanna Manichan (VII J) shared the third prize.
In the Poem Writing Competition on Veergatha – Rhythms of Poetry for Class VIII, Ayush Desai (VIII A)secured the first prize, followed by Vihaan Shreyas Kumar(VIII R) in second place and Sarah Joseph(VIII R) in third place.
The prizes were distributed by Staff Representative Parvathi Devadas. Senior Section Head Teacher Sini Lal, Activity-Head Teachers Sreekala R Nair (IX-XII) and Salona Pius (IV-VIII) and Social Science HoD Shency George attended.
ISB Hon.Chairman Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese, Hon. Secretary V. Rajapandian, Hon.Asst.Secretary & Hon. Member-Academics Ranjini Mohan, Principal VR Palaniswamy, Senior School & Academic Administration Vice-Principal G Satheesh and HoD Shency George congratulated all the winners and appreciated the students for their enthusiastic participation and artistic excellence
