ISB student Publishes Her First Book
Thirteen-year-old Seemal Rahman, a student of Class 8 at The Indian School Bahrain (ISB), has achieved a remarkable milestone by publishing her debut book titled POV: Point of View of a Teenager. The book captures the emotions, reflections, and perspectives of a modern teenager, written with striking honesty and humour.
The official international release of POV: Point of View of a Teenager will take place at the Sharjah International Book Fair on Friday, November 7, between 10.30 a.m. and 11 a.m. at the Writers’ Forum in Hall 7. The book is published by Eyebooks, a publishing house based in Kozhikode, Kerala. The Bahrain release is scheduled for November 14 at K-City Hall, where renowned motivational speaker PMA Gafoor will grace the occasion as chief guest.
Seemal, who writes under the pen name Seemal Rahman Shaikha, has been a part of the Indian School since LKG in 2016. She is the daughter of Mujeebur Rahman Odivayalil Kuni, who works at the Central Market in Manama, and Jiji Mujeeb, a Natal Neuro Coach and former Mathematics teacher at the ISB. The family hails from Kozhikode district in Kerala, India.
The young author expressed that her motivation to write stemmed from her desire to give voice to the thoughts and emotions of teenagers. “This book is about my point of view. I want to write what I feel. Maybe you too feel the same if you are like me,” she shared. “If you are a kid or teenager like me, know this: we are not perfect, and when adults were our age, they were not perfect either. We make mistakes, we learn, and that makes us human,” she added with sincerity.
Through her writings, Seemal reflects on the challenges and joys of growing up, the evolving relationship between children and parents, and the everyday experiences that shape young minds. Her book is a blend of introspection and light-hearted humour, presenting teenage life from a candid and relatable perspective. Notably, the cover page of the book was designed by Seemal herself, demonstrating her creative flair.
Commending her outstanding achievement, ISB Hon. Chairman Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese, Hon. Secretary V. Rajapandian, Hon. Assistant Secretary and Member-Academics Ranjini Mohan, Principal VR Palaniswamy, and Senior School and Academic Administration Vice-Principal G. Satheesh extended their heartfelt congratulations to Seemal on her literary accomplishment.
POV: Point of View of a Teenager stands as a testament to Seemal’s talent and determination, proving that age is no barrier to creativity or expression. Her work promises to resonate with both young readers and adults alike, offering a refreshing glimpse into the world through the eyes of a thoughtful and articulate young mind.
