The Indian School Celebrates Vishwa Hindi Diwas
The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) marked Vishwa Hindi Diwas with great enthusiasm through a series of vibrant programmes held at the Jashanmal Auditorium on Sunday, 11 January 2026. The programme, coordinated by the Hindi Department, began with the national anthems of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of India, followed by the school prayer. Grade 9 student Shahid Qamar recited verses from the Holy Qur’an. Maha Ali of Grade 9 extended a warm welcome to the gathering. The celebration marked the grand finale of a two-phase programme, the first phase of which comprised inter-school competitions conducted on 15 December 2025. The event was meticulously organised by the Hindi Department and was graced by Staff Representative Paravathi Devadas, Head Teachers (Activities) Sreekala R. Nair, Salona Pius, HoD Baboo Khan and other distinguished guests.The inter-school competitions witnessed enthusiastic participation from several CBSE schools, including The New Millennium School, The Asian School, The New Indian School, Bahrain Indian School, New Horizon School, and Ibn Al Hytham Islamic School. In addition to the competitions, the programme featured an engaging blend of patriotic songs, value-based songs, and folk dances, reflecting the richness and cultural depth of the Hindi language. First prize winners from various categories showcased their exceptional talents on stage.The names of the winners were announced by Grade 9 students Zoya Ali and Gloria Bhalla, following which trophies and certificates were presented. The programme was efficiently coordinated by the organising committee led by Baboo Khan. The vote of thanks was delivered by Class 9 student Erum Irfan Nakhwa.
The dedicated organising team comprised Shabreen Sulthana, Kahkashan Khan, Mahanaz Khan, Sheema Attukandathil, Ganga Kumari, Soufiya Muhammad, Girija M. K., Nita Pradeep, Simarjit Kaur, Smita Helwatkar, Joolie Vivek, Anju Thomas, and Saranya Mohan. The event was smoothly compered by student hosts Anoosha Anildas, Akshara Rajeev Krishna, Fathima Manha, Tara Mariam Rebi, Arya Anil Vyas, Maha Ali, Zoya Ali, Erum Irfan, Khushmeen Kaur, Gloria Bhalla, Christina Rachel Thomas, and Harshin Shijesh.
ISB Hon. Chairman Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese, Hon. Secretary V. Rajapandian, members of the Executive Committee, and Principal VR Palaniswamy and Senior Sechool & Academic Administration Vice-Principal G Satheesh congratulated the winners and commended the teachers for their dedication and enthusiasm, which contributed significantly to the success of the programme. The celebration of Vishwa Hindi Diwas at the ISB stood as a meaningful tribute to the Hindi language and its enduring cultural and literary significance.
