ISB Celebrates Tamil Day with Cultural and Literary Grandeur
The Indian School celebrated Tamil Day with great enthusiasm, marking the occasion with a rich blend of cultural performances and literary competitions that highlighted the depth and beauty of the Tamil language and heritage. Students from various classes participated actively, making the event a memorable cultural celebration on the school campus. ISB Hon. Secretary V. Rajapandian lghted the lamp in the presence of Principal VR Palaniswamy, Senior Sechool & Academic Administration Vice-Principal G Satheesh,Staff Representative Parvathi Devadas, HoD Vibhi Sarath, Tamil Teacher Mutharasi Arunkumar, staff and students.
The programme began with a devotional Tamil prayer song rendered by Shefali Sunil Sunithra, Magdalene Jemi Manoharathas, Nithika Ashok, and Varshini Prabhakaran of Class X, which set a serene and dignified tone for the celebrations. This was followed by classical dance performances by Niralya T (VI-G), Karunya A (VII-M), Vardini Jayaprakash (VII-G), Uma Eswari M (IX-L), and Shruthilaya (IX-L). Their graceful movements and expressive storytelling were widely appreciated by the audience.
The folk dance segment added colour and vibrancy to the programme, with spirited performances by Manha Jahan (VII-P), Jaslyn Shimona Kishore (V-R), Thiyana (VII-E), Sahana Rathish Kumar (IV-C), Kamali Satish Kumar (IV-R), Pramodhini Selvakumar (IV-C), Sharon Allwin Suthan (V-T), and Sai Mithra Balasubramaniyan (VI-H). The energy and coordination displayed by the young performers drew enthusiastic applause.
A thematic parade portraying various aspects of Tamil culture and tradition was presented by Mohamed Fazin (V-Q), Lakshya Ramakrishnan (VII-N), Surya Prakash (VII-Q), Nithika Ashok (X-W), and Jerlin Rekshana (IV-P). The segment offered a visual narrative of Tamil heritage and social values. The programme was ably compered by Saiisaahanya Jayaraman, Parmesh Suresh Poomalai, Jensilin Dhaas, and Shakthi Priyan, who ensured a smooth flow of events.
In addition to stage performances, Tamil Day competitions were conducted as part of the celebrations. In the Bharathidasan Kavithaigal poem recitation competition for Class VIII, Tejaswini Nachiappan (VIII-M) secured the first position, followed by Shakthi Priyan (VIII-E) in second place and Rameekha Shree (VIII-F) in third place.
In the Tamil Elocution (Class IX) category, Uma Eswari Meenakshinathan of IX-L secured the first position, followed by Jensilin Dhaas of IX-L in second place and Parmesh Suresh Poomalai of IX-K in third. In the Tamil Essay Writing (Class X) event, Nithika Ashok of X-W emerged as the first prize winner. Deepak Thanu Dev of X-W secured the second position, while Meera Balasubramanian of X-W won the third prize.
The word formation competition for Class IV saw Gracelyn Vinesh (IV-Q) winning first place, Ishani Priya Anuradha Rajesh (IV-P) securing second, and Vidun Rajkumar (IV-T) taking third place. In the handwriting competition for Class V, Benima Rajan Hemila Jkansily (V-T) won the first prize, Jishiga Princess Suresh Babu (V-L) secured second place, and Kisha Anantha Krishnan (V-M) won third place. In Thirukkural recitation ( Class VI), Azmina Mazel Irfan Noor (VI-P) bagged the first position, Mohamed Nihal Sheik Faizal (VI-Q) the second, and Sangamithra Jayaprakash (VI-Q) the third.
In the Bharathiyar Kavithaigal recitation competition for Class VII, Vardini Jayaprakash (VII-G) secured first place, Lakshya Ramakrishnan (VII-N) second place, and Anora Antony (VII-M) third place.
The Tamil Day celebrations concluded on a proud and festive note, reaffirming The Indian School’s commitment to nurturing linguistic pride, cultural awareness, and artistic excellence among its students. ISB Hon. Chairman Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese, Hon. Secretary V. Rajapandian, members of the Executive Committee, and Principal VR Palaniswamy and Senior School & Academic Administration Vice-Principal G Satheesh congratulated the winners and commended the teachers for their dedication and enthusiasm, which contributed significantly to the success of the programme.
