ISB Junior Campus Celebrates Earth Day Promoting Environmental Awareness
The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) Junior Campus KG and Primary Departments celebrated Earth Day on Wednesday, 22 April 2026, with great enthusiasm through a range of thoughtfully planned online activities designed to promote environmental awareness among young learners. The virtual celebration successfully engaged students in meaningful experiences that highlighted the importance of protecting the planet and caring for nature.
Students actively participated from their homes in a variety of interactive activities. One of the major highlights of the celebration was the seed-sprouting activity, during which children planted seeds and proudly showcased their progress during online sessions. This hands-on learning experience helped students understand the stages of plant growth and encouraged them to appreciate the value of nurturing the environment.
The programme also featured short speeches by students on the significance of Earth Day. Children confidently shared their thoughts on environmental conservation and the need to preserve natural resources. In addition, students created colourful posters carrying messages such as “Save Earth” and “Plant Trees,” demonstrating their creativity and awareness of ecological issues. These activities enhanced their communication skills while instilling a strong sense of environmental responsibility.
Adding a vibrant touch to the celebration, both students and teachers dressed in blue to symbolize the Earth and its natural beauty. Interactive online sessions provided opportunities for students to present their drawings, exchange ideas, and participate in collaborative discussions, making the celebration lively and engaging.
As part of a meaningful long-term initiative, students were encouraged to plant a tree on their birthdays, promoting sustainable habits and environmental consciousness from an early age.
The Earth Day celebration proved to be a resounding success, offering students a valuable platform to learn, express themselves, and take small yet significant steps towards protecting the environment. ISB Hon. Chairman Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese, Hon. Secretary V. Rajapandian, EC members, Junior Wing Principal Pamela Xavier and Junior Wing Vice-Principal Priya Laji congratulated the students for their enthusiastic participation.
