The Indian School to Organise ISB@75 Chess Championship – 2nd Edition

 

As part of its Platinum Jubilee celebrations and the sporting activities planned for the current academic year, The Indian School, Bahrain, in association with Arjun’s Chess Academy, is set to organise the ISB@75 Chess Championship – 2nd Edition on 12 June 2026.

Following the remarkable success of last year’s championship, which recorded the highest participation in a chess event in Bahrain, this year’s edition promises to be larger, more competitive and more inclusive, bringing together young talent and chess enthusiasts from across the Kingdom. The tournament aims to promote strategic thinking, concentration, discipline, decision-making and sportsmanship through one of the world’s most intellectually stimulating games.

The championship will feature two categories: an Inter-School Team Event and an Open Rapid Chess Tournament, creating opportunities for both school participants and members of the wider community.

Schools are invited to register one team in Under 14, selected by their respective academic teams. Each team must consist of  four members including one boy and  one girl player. Participation in the Inter-School category will be free of charge. For the Open category, an entry fee of BD 3 per participant  will apply.

All matches will be conducted in accordance with FIDE Rapid Rules. The top three teams in each category will receive trophies and certificates in recognition of their performance and achievement. Attractive prizes will also be awarded across various categories, with special recognition for the top 10 performers, providing participants with an exciting opportunity to demonstrate their tactical skills and competitive spirit.

The championship initiative will be spearheaded by ISB Hon. Vice Chairman and Hon. Member – Sports, Dr Mohammed Faizal. The second edition is expected to become one of the most exciting and inclusive chess events in the Kingdom, offering a vibrant platform for students and the wider community to engage in healthy competition while celebrating the enduring appeal of chess.

The Indian School warmly invites students, parents and chess enthusiasts to participate and be part of this memorable event.
