The Indian School Bahrain Celebrates International Day of Yoga
The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga with great enthusiasm on Wednesday, 18 June 2026, highlighting the importance of health, wellness, and mindfulness among students. The celebration aligned with this year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Aging,” which emphasizes integrating yoga into daily life to promote physical fitness, mental well-being, and a balanced lifestyle.
The programme commenced with the national anthem, followed by a vibrant cultural dance performance by students. A major highlight of the event was a synchronized mass yoga demonstration based on the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP), in keeping with the guidelines issued for CBSE-affiliated schools to mark International Day of Yoga.
Around 170 students from Classes VI to VIII participated in the yoga demonstration, showcasing a series of yoga asanas with remarkable discipline, coordination, and enthusiasm. The students had undergone dedicated practice sessions in preparation for the event and delivered an impressive performance that reflected their commitment and understanding of the benefits of yoga.
The yoga session was conducted by ISB Physical Education Teacher R. Chinnasamy, who guided the participants through various asanas and breathing exercises. The programme was coordinated by the Physical Education Department HoD Sridhar Siva Samiayya, with the support of the entire team of Physical Education teachers. Activity Head Teachers Sreekala R. and Salona Pius were also attended.
ISB Hon. Chairman Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese, Hon. Secretary V. Rajapandian, Hon.Vice Chairman & Hon.Member-Sports Dr Mohammed Faizal, Executive Committee members, Principal VR Palaniswamy, and Senior School & Academic Administration Vice Principal G. Satheesh congratulated the students on their enthusiastic participation and appreciated the teachers for the meticulous planning and successful execution of the programme.
