ISB Junior Wing Celebrates International Yoga Day

The Indian School Junior Wing enthusiastically celebrated International Yoga Day on Sunday 21 June 2026 as part of the Academic Year 2026–27 activities. The event was organized to promote physical fitness, mental well-being, and the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life. The celebration aligned with this year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Aging,” which emphasizes the role of yoga in fostering a healthy body, a calm mind, and a balanced lifestyle.

Students from LKG to Grade 3, dressed in their white PE uniforms, actively participated in a series of yoga exercises conducted in the auditorium under the guidance of the Physical Education teachers. The programme was attended by the Activity Head Teacher Shabana Suresh, along with teachers and staff members. The young learners performed various yoga postures with great enthusiasm, discipline, and confidence, reflecting the true spirit of the day.

The session began with a brief introduction highlighting the significance of International Yoga Day and the numerous benefits of practicing yoga regularly. Students were guided through a variety of simple yoga asanas and breathing exercises designed to improve flexibility, concentration, posture, and overall well-being. The calm and focused atmosphere created during the session encouraged students to appreciate the value of mindfulness and self-discipline.

During the programme, teachers explained how yoga contributes to physical health, emotional balance, and stress management. They encouraged students to adopt healthy habits and make yoga a part of their daily routine to lead happier and healthier lives.

ISB Hon. Chairman, Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese, Hon. Secretary V Rajapandian,EC members,  Principal Pamela Xavier, and Vice- Principal Priya Laji congratulated the students on their active participation and appreciated the efforts of the teachers in organizing the event. They encouraged the students to continue practicing yoga regularly and embrace its positive impact on their overall development.

The celebration concluded successfully, leaving the students inspired to embrace the values of wellness, mindfulness, and healthy living promoted through yoga. The event served as a meaningful reminder of the importance of nurturing both physical and mental well-being from an early age.
