The ISB Gives Grand Farewell to Principal VR Palaniswamy
The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) accorded a grand and heartfelt farewell to its Principal VR Palaniswamy on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the Jashanmal Auditorium, marking the retirement of the longest-serving Principal in the history of the institution. The event brought together members of the Executive Committee, educational leaders, staff, distinguished guests from the educational fraternity, and members of the school community. to honour an educator whose remarkable contributions have shaped the growth and success of the school for over two decades.

Member-Academics Ranjini Mohan, Hon.Member-Finance &IT Bonny Joseph, Hon.Member -Projects &Maintenance Mithun Mohan,Hon.Member Biju George, Hon.Member -Transport Mohammad Nayaz Ullah, Junior Wing Principal Pamela Xavier, Senior School & Academic Administration Vice-Principal G Satheesh, Vice-Principal Rajesh Nair, Junior Wing Vice-Principal Priya Laji and Staff Representative Parvathi Devadas attended.
Representing Council of CBSE Affiliated Schools in the Gulf, prominent educational leaders, including Dr. Mohammed Tayyab (Ibn Al Hytham Islamic School), Molly Treasa Mammen (Asian School), Dr. Arun Kuumar Sharma, ( New Millennium School), Monika Sethi (Al Noor International School), Gopinath Menon (New Indian School), Saji Jacob (Bahrain Indian School) and former EC member Rajesh Nambiar also attended. They highlighted Mr. Palaniswamy’s immense contributions to education in Bahrain and the Gulf region and commended his efforts in promoting quality education and institutional excellence. Junior Wing Principal Pamela Xavier welcomed the gatering.
In his felicitation address, Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese paid rich tributes to VR Palaniswamy’s visionary leadership, dedication to academic excellence, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of students and staff. He described Mr. Palaniswamy as an exceptional leader whose contributions have elevated the school to greater heights. A special video presentation showcased memorable moments from Mr. Palaniswamy’s distinguished career, highlighting his achievements, leadership journey, and lasting impact on the institution.
As a mark of honour and gratitude, Mr. Palaniswamy was felicitated with a ceremonial shawl by Adv.Binu Mannil Varughese in the presence of Executive Committee members, his wife Mrs. Chandra Palaniswamy, son Dr. Sandeep Kumar. Mrs. Chandra Palaniswamy was also presented with a bouquet in recognition of her steadfast support throughout his professional journey.
The school presented commemorative mementos to VR Palaniswamy in recognition of his twenty-five years of dedicated service to the ISB, including fifteen years as Principal. A special memento from the Staff Club was presented by Pamela Xavier on behalf of the teaching and non-teaching staff, expressing their gratitude for his inspiring leadership and unwavering support.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Palaniswamy expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Executive Committee, staff, students, parents, and the wider school community for their trust, cooperation, and affection throughout his tenure. He reflected on his journey at the school and emphasised the importance of teamwork, dedication, and continuous learning in achieving institutional success. Mrs. Molly Treasa Mammen, the retiring Principal of the Asian School, was honoured at the meeting.
The occasion also featured the presentation of Long Service Awards to staff members who had completed 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 years of service at the institution. The awards recognised their dedication, loyalty, and invaluable contributions to the growth and reputation of the school.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Hon.Secretary V Rajapandiyan, who acknowledged the immense contributions of Mr. Palaniswamy and wished him a happy, healthy, and fulfilling retired life. With an illustrious career spanning more than four decades in education, VR Palaniswamy leaves behind an enduring legacy of excellence, innovation, and service.
