With Deepest Respect and Gratitude

The Indian School, Bahrain, is deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. PV Cheriyan, former Chairman, whose commitment to the School's growth and the welfare of its students helped shape its future. He passed away in Thiruvananthapuram, leaving a legacy of service and compassion.

Dr. Cheriyan served as Chairman from November 1993 to October 1995 and again from November 1997 to October 1999. During his tenure, he provided visionary leadership that significantly contributed to the growth and development of the School. His unwavering commitment to educational excellence and student welfare left an enduring impact on generations of learners.

Among his many contributions were the introduction of merit awards to recognise and encourage academic excellence, the strengthening of the School’s infrastructure, and his efforts to enable the School to function in a single shift. He also played a pivotal role in the construction of the covered walkway, the establishment of the Career Guidance and Counselling Centre, and the inception of the School Band, initiatives that continue to benefit our students today.

Beyond his association with the School, Dr. Cheriyan was widely respected within the expatriate community for his dedication to social service and humanitarian causes. His compassion, integrity and commitment to the welfare of others earned him the admiration of many.

On behalf of the Executive Committee, staff, students, parents and alumni of the ISB, I extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. We honour his remarkable legacy and pray that his soul rests in eternal peace.
